Emergency services, including ambulance services, are run by the province concerned.
The nationwide emergency telephone number is 10111.

There are also private companies who offer emergency response vehicles and paramedics throughout South Africa.
The largest of these private companies is Netcare. Netcare’s emergency phone number is 082 911.

In the North Eastern part of South Africa (the Kruger National Park, the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, and the northern part of KwaZulu-Natal) there is a malaria risk in the summer months.

High-quality tap (faucet) water is available almost everywhere in South Africa, treated so as to be free of harmful micro-organisms.
